(un)Spring Cleaning: 5 Tips for Organizing Your Bathroom

Maintaining a bathroom can be quite difficult for most Memorial renters. An organized bathroom is definitely easier to maintain. Also, it can actually aid in your morning routine. Clutter will only bring about feelings of anxiety or frustration. So, an organized bathroom can help you relax, instead of worrying about the things that need to be kept. But, in order for you to get all that from an organized bathroom, you have to be willing to put in the work! Here are a few ways you can easily organize your bathroom.

Declutter

First and foremost, it is very important to find and get rid of any clutter so as to get a good start on an organized bathroom. A good number of people won’t even know it, but they have too many things inside their own bathrooms. This should be a good reason to go through your cabinets, drawers, and shelves so as to determine which items to keep and which to toss. It should go without saying that anything expired should head straight to the trash. Lump items that are the same and take stock. Any items duplicated and have still not been used in the last year or so should be thrown out. And then, take the items that you intend to keep and organize them.

Categorize to Organize

Once decluttering is done, it is now time to start categorizing. Organizing will be way easier once you get that done first. If your bathroom belongs only to you, you can categorize items according to your routine. For example, you may want to set up a shelf, bin, or drawer for your morning routine and then another for the evening routine. If, however, the bathroom is shared, one idea is to provide a caddy for each person’s items. Then, the caddies can be mounted onto a shelf or cabinet.

Invest in Clear Storage Containers

A disorganized bathroom is usually one where people don’t know where items are placed. To steer clear of this, you can make it easy to find items by using clear storage containers. Then, simply place your categorized items into these containers. Shallow drawer organizers can be great for keeping toothbrushes, makeup, and other small items neat. For taller containers, they can be used to divide items according to types for shelves and cabinets.

A Place for Everything

As you re-organize your bathroom, don’t forget to designate a place for items in the room. This allows you to avoid clutter all over again. One good practice is to keep things off of the bathroom counter. Instead, you can opt for bins, drawers, and baskets. Make sure to label your storage containers, as well. It helps keep everything in place so that you can easily find items when you need them.

Use Your Space Effectively

Bathrooms are often cluttered because they are small. Most bathrooms are too small to have enough space to work with, making it very difficult for organizing belongings. No matter how small, there’s always some unused space in the bathroom that you can make good use of to keep things tidied up. Hooks behind doors, storage containers attached to the cabinet doors, and the space above the toilet are all potential storage areas. These are some spaces that you can capitalize on to make your bathroom clean and organized.
